Islamabad: Federal Ministry for Housing & Works has announced that 3-marla and 5-marla affordable houses will be constructed under Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), according to a news source. For those living in katchi abadis, the model of having two rooms, a kitchen, and a small corridor will be followed.
The ministry is currently finalising the rules and regulations regarding private-public partnership for NPHP, where the Government of Pakistan will act as a regulator and the private sector will play the main role in terms of construction.
The sources from Ministry of Housing & Works briefed the media that on the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, a task force comprising stakeholders has been formed. Its members include representatives from State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan Housing Foundation, Ministry of Housing & Works, and commercial banks.
Reportedly, the task force is swiftly proceeding with related works to initiate the project. Currently, its main focus is on completing the land acquisition process and finalising details on formation of a financial model and the project’s legal framework. In this regard, paperwork has been completed.
