Islamabad: The government has decided to set up special counters in a bid to attract foreign investment in the housing sector – a news source reported.
These counters will be established at the Board of Investment and in major embassies. The government hopes to develop the housing sector under its ambitious Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPH) project.

So far, more than 35 companies have expressed interest to facilitate the construction of five million low-cost houses. These companies and consortiums have approached the Housing Foundation, which is an institution working for NPHP.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the authorities concerned to facilitate low-income groups in every possible way. He recently chaired a meeting to review progress on NPHP.

Imran Khan said that the construction of low-cost residential units will help address the problem of shortage of houses. He said that NPHP will aid in alleviating the country’s economic concerns, and provide jobs to the unemployed.
