Rawalpindi: The authorities concerned have commenced with the development work at the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) project site at Dhok Munshi, Chaklala (Rawalpindi), a news source reported. According to officials, the low-cost housing units will be developed on 508 kanals of land owned by the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had inaugurated the NPHP project in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Quetta on March 11. He had further provided his approval to the issuance of fund for the development of a dual carriageway linking the scheme with Airport Road and Rahimabad Flyover.

Reportedly, work on expansion and carpeting of the road has begun. This signal-free corridor will be linked with Islamabad Expressway while passing via Chaklala Station and Airport Housing Scheme.
Currently, construction of 1,000 low cost housing units is underway. Updates are awaited from NPHP projects in other cities. The government will construct 20,000 houses in these cities.

To further assist with the related developments, the authorities concerned have started to attend to the matters regarding illegal occupation of 200 kanals of CDA land. The operation is being carried out on directives of PM Khan.
