Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan has approved the construction of 32,000 low-cost houses for the residents of Peshawar, Hangu, and Swat districts, a news source reported.

The CM gave his approval during a meeting, which was held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar on Tuesday. Special Assistant Iftikhar Durrani, Minister for Communication and Works Akbar Ayub, and Provincial Minister Amjad Ali were all present at the occasion.
The provincial government will construct these houses in Peshawar (20,000 units), Hangu (9,000 units) and Swat (3,000 units) under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) project.
CM Mahmood Khan directed the provincial housing secretary to finalise an agreement with the Pakistan Housing Authority for the NPHP KP project. He also ordered the authorities concerned to conduct a feasibility study for the Peshawar housing scheme within 20 days, and for the Swat and Hangu housing schemes within 10 days.

He informed the meeting that the NPHP is a countrywide project under which the federal government would provide low-cost houses to the people.
