Lahore: The Housing Department will take the help of a feasibility study before commencing work on the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme (NPHP), a news source reported. To source funds for this purpose, a letter requesting for the grant amount has been sent to the Chief Minister Secretariat.

Additionally, the members of Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) Board have decided to establish a Project Management Unit (PMU). This body will contribute towards streamlining the completion process of the NPHP.
The sub-committee, presided over by a member of the board, gave recommendations for an increase in PHA’s competence. Minister Punjab Housing Mian Mahmood-ul-Rashid stated that the board will take a final decision based upon these recommendations – following the members’ discussion.

The minister also stated that the work on projects of Lodhran, Chishtian, and Renala Khurd is in its final stages. He informed that the second phase of the initiative, which features work on affordable housing units under NPHP in Sialkot and Chiniot, is currently underway. Work on housing projects in Faisalabad, Layah, and Borewala will be started soon.
For NPHP Chishtian, funds worth PKR 2,917,000 have been requested. Meanwhile, funds worth PKR 3,120,000 are required for Lodhran and Renala Khurd each.
