Lahore: The Punjab Land Development Authority (PLDA) has completed its preparations to help Prime Minister Imran Khan fulfil his promise of providing 5 million affordable houses under Naya Pakistan Housing Programme, reported a news source. To formally start the construction of these houses, the authority now awaits formal approval from the government. Khan launched the programme on October 10, 2018.
At the moment, PLDA is in a position to start the construction of 40,000 affordable units. In this regard, it also has acquired and identified the land. According to sources, the authority has approximately 3,100 kanals of land available in Ashiyan Iqbal and around 140 kanals available in Ashiyana Quaid. And that’s addition to several hundreds of kanals of land available in Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Kasur, and Faisalabad.
Reportedly, land measuring 250 and 650 kanals is available in Kasur and Faisalabad respectively. While 300 kanals and 220 kanals is available in Sahiwal and Bahawalpur. The officials from PLDA say that the authority is in a position to start construction work of 40,000 thousand units as soon as a formal approval is granted in this regard.
Please note, low-cost residential projects under NPHP in Lahore, Sahiwal and Kasur have already been approved by the departments concerned.
