Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan will lay the foundation stone for the construction of affordable houses in Lodhran this month, reported a news source. Approximately 6,000 houses will be constructed in Lodhran, Chishtia and Renala Khurd under phase I of the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP).
The final date for laying the foundation stone has not been shared yet. It is expected that the ceremony will be held during the second or third week of February.
According to Punjab Minister for Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, work to lay infrastructure for affordable houses is underway in various districts of Punjab. He spoke to the media while visiting the proposed site for construction of affordable houses in Chiniot.
Affordable houses in Chiniot will be launched during NPHP Phase II. Reportedly, land measuring 54 acres has already been acquired for this purpose.
Minister Rasheed is hopeful that the construction work of 500,000 affordable houses will start in Punjab by the end of this year.
