Multan: The Government of Punjab has identified land near Madni Chowk in Multan to establish a low-cost housing project under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), a news source reported. The provincial government has marked and reserved this land for the NPHP project, while development work at the site will begin later this year.

Reportedly, Punjab Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Mian Mehmood-ur- Rasheed also paid a visit to the site, and received a briefing from the Housing Department. Speaking during his tour of the site, Minister Rasheed stated that Multan would primarily feature modern apartment buildings under the NPHP.

As per the information revealed by the minister, the 23-kanals of land identified near Madni Chowk will feature three story apartment buildings. These flats will be offered at convenient payment plans, while the price per unit is set at PKR 3 million. The Housing Department will construct a total of 384 apartments on the identified land.

The NPHP’s Multan project will be a gated apartment community that will feature parks, modern health facilities and a mosque. The government will conduct a ballot to ensure transparency when determining the allottees of these apartments.

The Minster added that, in addition to Madni Chowk, Multan will have another NPHP project on Muzaffargarh Road. He also revealed that the construction of 100,000 low-cost housing units in Lodhran will begin soon, and that the Punjab government is hoping to involve the private sector on NPHP projects as well.
