Islamabad: Two companies have pledged to invest PKR 2 billion in the federal government’s Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) project, a news source reported.

Officials of the two companies – Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG) and HSS Group – met Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan in Islamabad on Wednesday.

XCMG Global Sales President and General Manager Dr Hanson Liu said that his firm wanted to establish a heavy equipment manufacturing plant and assembly line in Pakistan.

In response, the PM welcomed the two firms’ offer to help develop Pakistan’s housing and manufacturing sector. He said that NPHP was a flagship project of the federal government.

He also highlighted various measures undertaken by the government to build the national economy. These include an ease of doing business initiative, as well as attempts to reform the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
