Lahore: The Punjab Government has constituted a 21-member task force to oversee the construction of 2.5 million low-cost residential units under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) – a news source reported.
According to a notification, Izhar Group of Companies Director and former Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Senior Vice President Yaqoob Tahir Izhar has been appointed as the chairman.

The director general of Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) has been appointed as the task force’s secretary. The provincial government has also notified Terms of Reference (TORs).
The 21-member task force will monitor the project’s performance, construction material, and infrastructure reforms. It will also devise policies and action plans regarding the project.

Moreover, the members will also cater to issues regarding land bank financing, legal framework, one-window operation, and upgradation of slums.
The task force has been asked to monitor the action plan as well as give detailed briefings to the Chief Minister Punjab and cabinet regarding NPHP.
