Lahore: Three more cities from Punjab – Nankana Sahib, Samundari, and Jaranwala – have been included in the list of cities where affordable houses under Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) will be constructed, reported a news source. The new cities have been added to the list to relieve pressure from the neighbouring major cities.
According to sources from NPHP, the approval for adding two more districts from Faisalabad i.e. Samundari and Jarawala to the list has been granted. These two districts are in addition to the one pilot project currently being carried out in the city. The addition of more districts will help keep the pressure off from Faisalabad.

According to Federal Minister for Housing & Works Muhammad Shabbir Ali Qureshi, government employees in Islamabad face a sheer shortage of accommodation options. Under NPHP, 100,000 houses will be constructed for federal government employees, allowing those on the waiting list get an accommodation.
Qureshi also affirmed that the allotment process in this regard will be kept transparent. He also indicated upcoming amendments in Accommodation Rules 2002.
