Lahore: The Punjab Government is finalising financial models with the Bank of Punjab (BoP) and House Building Finance Corporation (HBFC) to provide interest-free loans for Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), a news source reported.

Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal expressed his views on the matter. Minister for Housing Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed and Minister for Forests Muhammad Sibtain were also present at the occasion.
Iqbal said that the government would provide interest-free loans for constructing affordable houses and apartments in various districts of the province. He added that the authorities concerned recently identified additional land measuring 200,000 kanals for NPHP.

Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed said that housing and land laws were being amended for the affordable housing project. He added that the construction of houses had begun in Renala Khurd.
He said that the Punjab Government would be organising an international conference on housing where developers and overseas companies would participate.

Architect Zahid Javed Raja said that the housing scheme was aimed at providing affordable apartments to low-income groups, as well as promoting related industries.
