Lahore: The Punjab Government has reduced the down payment of low-cost houses under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) project from 20% to 10% of the total prices of the units, according to a publication.

In the first phase of NPHP, the government will construct 3- and 5-marla, 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-bedroom, single and double-storey, independent houses in Lodhran, Renala Khurd and Chishtian. Possession is expected to be granted within 24 months.

Aspirants can deposit application forms in designated branches of the Bank of Punjab by March 31, 2019. People who have already submitted their applications can apply for independent homes by depositing their applications without the token money. These individuals will be able to avail the down payment facility.

Meanwhile, the government has reportedly decided to launch the NPHP project in Islamabad in the second week of April. A meeting to this effect took place on Sunday, presided over by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

The officials concerned are finalising the draft with respect to rules and regulations of the housing programme. It will soon be tabled before the cabinet committee concerned for final approval.
