Lahore: Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has invited private investors to assist the government with regard to the development work of the Naya Pakistan Housing Program (NPHP) – a news source reported.
He was talking to a delegation of the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD). He stated that the government was determined to provide houses to low-income groups.
Aleem said that building five million houses was a huge task for the executive. He added that policies were being formulated to revamp the housing and construction sector.
A mortgage policy will be formed on European and American models. Under this arrangement, the process of acquiring funds for house-building ventures will be systematised.
The minister asked ABAD to share its expertise with the government with regard to the housing sector. He stressed the need to ensure proper arrangements for NPHP.
Under NPHP, the government plans to construct five million low-cost residential units in the next five years.
