Quetta: The government will construct 110,000 apartments, including 54,000 houses for fishermen, in Quetta and Gwadar under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) project – a news source reported.

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan expressed his views on the matter during the launch ceremony of the housing project at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) in Quetta on Sunday.
Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan, Governor Amanullah Yasinzai, Federal Minister for Housing Tariq Bashir Cheema, federal and provincial cabinet members, and several senior government officials were present at the occasion.

The prime minister informed that commercial banks would provide housing soft loans to low income groups. He added that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) was also negotiating with a number of financial institutions to provide housing loans to the people.
Under the first phase of the housing project, the government will construct 135,000 houses countrywide. Out of this number, the Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF) will provide 25,000 apartments to government employees in Islamabad.

For the NPHP Kuchlak Road project in Quetta, under which 56,000 apartments will be constructed in the city, the foundation concerned has extended its form-submission deadline till May 16.
