Lahore: Provincial Minister for Housing Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed has requested cooperation from private developers for construction of affordable houses, reported a news source. Under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP), the federal government aims to construct five million houses in the country.
The provincial minister issued this statement while chairing the first session of the Punjab Task Force formed for NPHP. The meeting discussed progress on the project. Matters pertaining to the prospective maps of these house and their construction costs were also discussed. The task force members also shed light on various aspects of the process of getting private real estate developers on board for the project.
Briefing the meeting members on NPHP developments in the province, Minister Rasheed said that 5,792 affordable houses will be constructed under the project’s phase I. Out of this figure, 2,288 will be built in Chishtian, 1,786 in Lodhran, and 1,718 in Renala Khurd.
