Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the officers concerned to expand Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, reported a news source. He issued the orders while presiding a meeting Housing Task Force formed for the project.
The meeting was also attended by Housing Minister Chaudhary Tariq Bashir Cheema, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khatak, Finance Minister Asad Umar, Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Khusro Bakhtiar, Punjab Senior Minister Aleem Khan, Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani and Task Force on Housing Chairman Zaigham Mehmood Rizvi, other senior officials.
Rizvi briefed Khan and meeting members on developments so far carried out on the planned legislation for the project, formation of housing authorities at provincial and federal level, and other related matters. The project was launched on October 10, 2018 by Khan, under which affordable houses will be constructed in Islamabad, Lahore, Quetta, Sialkot, Multan, Lodhran, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, Gilgit, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Jhelum, Muzaffarabad, Swat, Vehari, Kasur, Laiyah, Sukkur, Chiniot, Nankana Sahib, Jaranwala and Samundari.
