Islamabad: The federal government has received as many as 90,000 applications from the citizens of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with respect to the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) project, a news source reported.

Officials of the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit-Baltistan said that the federal government has included AJK in the first phase of the affordable housing scheme.
The region has also been included in the countrywide ‘Clean & Green’ campaign. Under this initiative, the Ministry of Climate Change is developing forest areas in a bid to address the threats posed by climate change.
Moreover, the government has decided to allocate funds worth PKR billion for people living along the Line of Control (LoC). These funds would be disbursed under the upcoming Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Other planned initiatives include the construction of the proposed Muzaffarabad-Mirpur Expressway, and the allocation of additional funds worth PKR 2 billion for developing health and education facilities in AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan.
