Karachi: The Sindh nvironment Protection Agency (SEPA) Sindh has served notices to 15 real estate developers that have been carrying out developmental work in violation of the agency’s standard operating procedures (SOPs), according to a news source. As per the publication, these property developers were targeted because they initiated the construction of their projects without first obtaining an official NOC first.

Reportedly, the directives to crackdown on the aforementioned real estate developers came directly from the provincial government. According to the information available, the developers had been engaged in conducting development work on their projects at M. Jinnah Road and Lines Area connected to New Preedy Street.

The construction of real estate projects prior to obtaining an environment impact assessment from the EPA poses environmental hazards to the surrounding areas and has been declared unlawful as a result. The developers found breaching this law can face penalties as high as PKR 5 million, which in the case of non-compliance can further increase to PKR 100,000 per day.
