Bahawalpur: Inland Revenue Bahawalpur region Chief Commissioner Dr Ashfaq Ahmed Tunio stated that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had so far served notices to more than 300 owners of benami properties in the Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar districts – a news source reported.

Dr Tunio further said that the notices were issued in pursuance of the federal government’s decision, after receiving detailed records of the properties from the respective deputy commissioners and other revenue department officials.
The FBR benami commissioner has begun dispatching notices to the properties suspected to be benami in Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar districts, while the records for Rahim Yar Khan and Lodhran are yet to be received.
Notices were issued for 150 benami properties in Bahawalpur, and 175 in Bahawalnagar.

The Chief Commissioner also claimed that the FBR during the current calendar year, unearthed a fraud of more than PKR 190 million in the head of sales tax by a fake textile mill in Harunabad.
