Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has revoked property tax notices sent bearing the previous higher rates, reported a news source. The RCB’s Assessment Committee has directed board officials to send new notices tabulated at the lower rates now in effect.

As per reports, the erroneous tax percentages listed in RCB’s Revenue Department notices greatly worried their recipient property owners. To address these concerns, the RCB formed an assessment committee. The body’s former president and current board member Hafiz Hussain Ahmed Malik was tasked to head it.

RCB member Arshad Qureshi and Haji Zafar Iqbal presented 120 such cases before the committee. Presenting their cases, the 120 owners recorded their concerns by showcasing their property rental records.
To alleviate the complainants concerns, the committee announced to offer tax relief to the property owners affected. The committee directed the RCB Revenue Department to cancel the previously-issued notices, and issue new intimations.
In response, the property owners appreciated the efforts of the committee, and thanked it for solving the case.
