Mansehra: The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Balakot has issued notices to 100 owners for constructing houses and commercial centres along the bank of Kunhar River, according to news published in the leading newspaper on September 19.

The tehsil municipal officer mentioned that notices have been served to the 100 owners who have built shops and houses within 200 feet-area along Kunhar River. He went on to say that the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has imposed a ban on all types of construction along the streams and rivers. In this regard, the administration has served notices to owners, asking them to demolish the commercial properties and houses.

Moreover, the tehsil municipal officer stated that the decision of imposing a ban was taken after the devastation caused by the recent flash floods in the province. It was revealed that the district administration has destroyed the National Highway Authority’s (NHA) toll tax plaza in the Hasamabad area in Balakot.
