Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has started to issue notices to the owners found using their residential properties for commercial purposes, reported a news source. The cantonment board had already announced a crackdown against such owners after Eid-ul-Fitr.
The RDA took notice of the matter after receiving complaints from the cantonment residents. This also causes financial losses to the board as owners are required to pay commercial fee for using their residential properties for business operations. The owners found involved in non-conforming use of their residential property pay utility charges at residential rates, which is also an illegal practice.

To launch a thorough crackdown against such property owners, the RCB has also completed its survey. The notices were issued after the survey results were finalised. At the moment, several property owners have rented their houses to schools, beauty parlours, massage centres, and property dealers. The board has advised them to convert their residential lease to commercial lease and pay the due charges.
