Karachi: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar recently announced that the public park under development in Block L-North Nazimabad would be opened next month, according to a news source.

The park is being developed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), at a cost of PKR 400 million. Terming it as a gift for the citizens of Karachi, Akhtar stated that that the authorities concerned involved in the development of the park had ensured that all basic facilities were provided to the public. Reportedly, the 8-acre park is expected to feature Victorian style lights, and a football ground.

During a visit to the project site on March 18, the mayor directed the KMC staff to ensure ample plantation and measures to beautify the park. The mayor was also briefed that the KMC had restored the football park located adjacent to the park.

KMC Commissioner Dr Saif-ur-Rehman, Central District Chairman Rehan Hashmi, Parks Director General Afaq Mirza, and Parks Committee Chairman Khurram Farhan also accompanied the mayor during his visit to the park.
