Lahore: Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has announced that the Punjab government’s Lahore Development Package is actively underway, aiming to upgrade the city’s infrastructure, including road renovations, sewerage system improvements, and other essential projects at the local level.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 5-kilometer long Amir Road reconstruction in Shad Bagh, PP-148, the minister emphasized that the road had remained neglected for the past 15 years, causing major inconvenience to commuters. Under the special directive of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, its reconstruction has now commenced, alongside a broader rehabilitation of roads in the constituency.

He assured residents that by next year, all roads in the area will be fully rehabilitated, and the sewerage system will be fully operational, eliminating issues like non-functional tube wells.
Reaffirming the Punjab government’s commitment, the minister stated that North Lahore will be transformed into a model urban area within the next two years. He also criticized previous administrations, accusing them of ignoring the region’s infrastructure problems. “We have a five-year mandate, but we will resolve all local issues within two years,” he asserted.
