Islamabad: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has made it mandatory for builders to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) prior to commencing with the construction of high-rise buildings within a 15km radius from the airports, a news source reported. As per CAA officials, the authority announced this policy following the federal government’s approval.

Previously, the CAA during a cabinet meeting had recommended the said restriction, submitted its aeronautical study, as well as summaries concerning the development of high-rise buildings in Multan, Peshawar, Lahore, and Karachi.
In response, the executive readily approved the CAA’s suggestion with regard to the NOC issuance for high-rise constructions at airports.

Following the approval, notices were issued to all interested and concerned departments, including developers, builders and cellular companies. Under the new requirements, the parties concerned will now have to submit information such as height of the building and tools installed on the roof in order to obtain an NOC. According to the officials, the companies who do not comply with the new rules will face strict action.
