Karachi: The Sindh government has set a condition for the issuance of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for housing societies in the province, according to news published in the national dailies on May 11.

The decision was taken at a meeting, which was chaired by Environmental Minister Mohammad Ismail Rahu. It was attended by Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) Director General Naeem Ahmed Mughal and other relevant officials.
As per the details, the government has decided to issue NOC to new housing projects only if the projects have allocated land for greenbelts. It was revealed that having land for greenbelts allotted before construction is mandatory. The government took this decision keeping in mind the heatwaves that are being experienced in the province, which many experts have linked to climate change.

Moreover, the minister has directed the SEPA Director General Mughal to devise new tree plantation policies for housing projects keeping in view the rising temperatures.
