Islamabad: Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has sought a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) exemption facility for overseas investors who seek to visit Gwadar, a news source reported. He referred the matter to the Senate Standing Committee on Interior.

He asked the standing committee to suggest a mechanism for the provision of the said facility. He added that the committee should suggest measures that do not compromise on the national security.
The Senate chairman had called for the introduction of these measures after he took notice of the delays that impeded the issuance of the NOC to foreigners; especially international businessmen seeking investment opportunities in Gwadar. He added that delays in NOC issuance to foreign investors had blocked potential investments, which were essential for the port city’s development.

Sanjrani stated that it was essential to expedite the process in order to harness the port city’s potential towards becoming an industrial and trade hub. He added that Gwadar would contribute significantly to the economic stability of Pakistan following the commencement of industrial and trade activities.
