Islamabad: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is all set to lift the NOC condition for the construction of high-rise buildings near Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Multan airport terminals – except for areas marked sensitive by the authority for air operations, a news source reported. This information was shared during a meeting of the federal cabinet on Tuesday (January 14); presided over by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

The move is expected to attract investment in the construction sector, especially for high-rise projects. The CAA expects that most of these investments will be poured in by the overseas Pakistanis. For construction of such high-rise buildings, the rules and regulations specified by the respective building control authorities and the concerned departments will duly be followed. The CAA will lift the NOC condition in future, the date for which has not been revealed so far.

In the same meeting, the federal cabinet also approved the launch of AirSial. For setting up the new airline, the cabinet also gave nod to the signage of an agreement between the air services of Pakistan and Saudi Arab to improve the former’s aviation services.

Special Assistant to the PM on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, during a media briefing, stated that the federal cabinet also approved the transfer of three properties owned by various departments to the Naya Pakistan Housing & Development Authority (NPHDA). The move is meant to allow the NPHDA to initiate the construction work of low-cost houses under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP).
