Quetta: Balochistan cabinet has accorded approval to the issuance of No Objection Certificate (NoC) for leasing land to China, which plans to establish a 300MW coal-fired power project there, a news source reported. The land will be leased to China for 40 years.
Officials from Pakistan and China are set to finalise several multi-billion-dollar Gwadar projects, including the establishment of an international airport worth USD 223 million expected to be inaugurated next month, at a Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting scheduled for December 18 and 19.
JCC is expected to discuss several small socioeconomic development projects worth USD 1 billion sought by Pakistan for execution in all its four provinces. It will also take up the matter pertaining to the relocation of some industrial units into special economic zones (SEZs), including a concession agreement for Rashakai Economic Zone.
Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar had already directed officials concerned to expedite industrial cooperation by developing a holistic framework with China.
