Multan: The Multan Development Authority (MDA) has completed its survey of illegal housing societies in the city, according to a news story published on December 24.
As per the MDA findings, out of the total housing schemes in Multan, only 18 have procured their approvals from the authority, while 182 have been declared as illegal real estate developments. As per the news source, many of these societies are owned by influential people.

Sharing further information on the unapproved housing schemes, the MDA mentioned that applications against developers of these societies have also been submitted with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Despite reports submitted to the bureau, no legal action has so far been taken against the accused.
Reportedly, the MDA has received orders from the court to launch a crackdown against these societies. Sources within the MDA have revealed that the authority has prepared a plan on executing an operation against such developments. According to MDA Director General (DG) Agha Muhammad Ali, FIRs will be lodged against the developers of illegal housing societies.

The DG advised the general public to confirm whether a society has been approved by the relevant authorities before initiating the purchase process by visiting the MDA office or the authority’s website. Reportedly, information on unapproved housing schemes in Multan has been uploaded to the MDA website.
