Lahore: Mayor Lahore Col. (Retd.) Mubasshir Javaid has placed a ban on issuing commercial or residential maps without record of rights (fard malkiat), according to a news report. At the same time, he cancelled 15 maps and put more than 500 map applications on hold. Javaid took action after the reports surfaced that fake maps were being issued based on registries.
Javaid banned the issuance of maps in 9 zones including in the areas that fall in Municipal Corporation’s domain. In addition to that, he also ordered that maps previously issued in all zones will be audited while the applicants are now bound to submit record of rights. Javaid cancelled maps for buildings and structures in Nishtar, Samanabad, and Allama Iqbal Zone.
Of the 500 maps that are put on hold without submitting record of rights, 50 are from Municipal Corporation area, 50 from Ravi Zone, 55 in Data Ganj Buksh Zone, 45 in Gulberg Zone, 40 in Shalimar Zone, 45 in Aziz Bhatti Zone, 55 in Nishtar Zone, 60 in Allama Iqbal Zone, 50 in Samanabad Zone, and 50 in Wagah Zone.
