Islamabad: The Caretaker Minister for Finance Dr. Shamshad Akhtar has said that no extension will be given in the deadline of tax amnesty scheme, which expires on June 30, reported a news source. Akhtar stressed that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) should instead focus on helping people better understand the process of availing the scheme.
Akhtar was heading the FBR meeting held with senior officials on Tuesday to get a briefing on response generated by and the revenue so far collected so far under this scheme. She said that the amnesty scheme has been received positively by the people and it will leave good impact on the national exchequer.
The FBR also shared details with Akhtar on functions of the Tax Reform Committee. Addressing the meeting members, Akhtar said that the FBR should work on making the process to file income tax returns easier for people. She also directed the officers concerned to install good-quality scanners on the sea port as it will help the government earn more revenue.
