Islamabad: The federal government on Monday confirmed that zero COVID-19 cases had been recorded for the first time in one month within the capital city, a news source reported. This is the first time since April 7 that Islamabad has reported no new positive coronavirus cases.

Official data revealed that the city had not reported any new COVID-19 patients within a period of 24 hours — with the total tally standing at 415 on Monday as well as on Sunday. Meanwhile, throughout Pakistan, the total number of COVID-19 patients has officially crossed the 20,000 mark.
Reportedly, the district administration has enforced a smart lockdown in Islamabad. While other sectors of the city have been opened, only 10 streets of Sectors I-10/1 and I-10/4 have been sealed. These include two streets in Sector 1-10/4, namely streets 31-A and 31-C, along with streets 66, 67, 71, 900, and those around Umer Shopping Centre in Sector I-10/1.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) also issued a notification for sealing these streets following reports that 50 coronavirus cases had been discovered in these two sectors. Previously, the two sub-sectors had been sealed completely.

In this regard, the district administration has requested the Rangers, Police, and Pakistan Army to cordon off the said streets for ensuring public safety. The administration also revealed that Bhara Kahu, I-10, and Tarlai were COVID-19 hotspots in Islamabad.
