Lahore: The National Logistics Cell (NLC) trucks carrying high-value products from Pakistan completed their first-ever, one-side run to Turkey and Azerbaijan under Transports Internationaux Routiers (TIR) convention, according to news published on Tuesday (October 12).

As per the details shared by the NLC spokesperson, the trucks started their 5,000 kilometres journey from Karachi on September 27 and reached Baku and Istanbul through Tehran on the night of October 7. It was mentioned that this first movement has received an overwhelming response from business communities and governments of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Moreover, ceremonies were held at Baku and Istanbul to mark the revival of two international road corridors in the region. Pakistan’s Ambassador in Turkey Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi stated that it is a milestone achievement that will strengthen road connectivity between Turkey and Pakistan and promote bilateral trade.

Sharing more details, it was informed that high-value goods included raw materials, computers, home appliances, dried fruits, carpets, furniture, textile-related equipment, plastic household items, non-perishable food items, and electronics. Once these items are packed in containers after legal procedures, these goods cannot be checked on the way and will be opened at their final destination.
