Karachi: North Karachi Industrial Development and Management Company (NKIDMC) Director Syed Usman Ali recently suggested that the property tax collected from the North Karachi Industrial Area should be used for its maintenance and the repair of infrastructural facilities in the locality, a news source reported. He presented this proposal during a meeting with the Sindh Industries Secretary Dr Nasim ul Ghani Sahito.

Director Ali said that these funds should be provided to the company on a regular basis so that they may be used for maintenance and other similar tasks. NKIDMC Chief Executive Officer Sadiq Muhammad informed the meeting that PKR 442 million had already been used up — out of the total PKR 573 million originally allotted by the Sindh government for the rehabilitation of infrastructure in the area. This included three projects that were rehabilitated entirely, while work on another was currently underway. In addition, a two-year audit had also been completed in this time.
