Karachi: The Sindh Board of Investment Chairperson Naheed Memon has exempted nine kinds of projects that might have poor impact on the environment from getting an NOC from the Sindh Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), according to a news source. The decision has been taken to transform the regulatory environment of the province.
These projects include warehouses for storage of non-combustible material with a covered area of less than 2,000 yd2, hotels and restaurants having a height of 70 feet and a covered area of up to 2,000 yd2, multi-storey buildings excluding educational institutes, parking plazas of up 2,000 yd2, baking and confectionary units that are up to 5,000 yd2 in size and don’t have a boiler or pressure vessel installed, marriage and banquet halls built on 5,000 yd2 or smaller plots, bus and wagon stands of up to 4,000 yd2, motor vehicle workshops and maintenance garages up to 500 yd2, non-kiln small-scale brick and manufacturing units of up to 2,000 yd2, and basic health units with a capacity of less than 10 beds.
