Faisalabad: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) and other departments concerned on Wednesday agreed to designate nine areas in the city as industrial zones, a news source reported.

Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Syed Zia Hussain expressed his views on the matter. He was speaking to businessmen and traders at the FDA office in Faisalabad.
At present, there exists at least nine unapproved industrial clusters in the city. These are Kharianwala, Maqbool Road, Sargodha Road, Millat Industrial Estate, Odin Street, Samundari Road, Rehmanabad, and Ghulam Muhammad Abad.
The participants decided to get the industrial clusters situated on Millat Road, Sargodha Road, and Kharianwala regularised. They also agreed to change the status of these areas – as it is currently registered under the city’s master plan.

The meeting also reviewed the proposal to shift industrial units situated in densely populated areas to the M-3 Industrial Estate. Recommendations to this effect will be forwarded to the Punjab Industries Department.
