Islamabad: National Highway Authority (NHA) Chairman Captain (retired) Sikander Qayyum on Tuesday stated that the agency had partnered with the private sector on overseeing various uplift projects in the country, a news source reported.

Qayyum revealed this information while addressing an ‘e-Kutcheri’ via NHA’s official Facebook page. He also stated that the NHA was committed to providing a reliable, safe, and high-speed road network in Pakistan.
The NHA chairman answered several questions submitted by people across the country. He also highlighted the objectives and workings of the NHA. He revealed that as of now, the authority controls over 12,000 kilometres of national highways and motorways in Pakistan.
He added that 80% of the country’s total commercial traffic was attached to the NHA’s road network. As per the instructions of Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed, the authority has taken measures for enhancing its revenue, the chairman commented.

Qayyum said that the NHA would also conduct e-Kutcheri sessions at its regional offices across Pakistan in line with Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s directives. The PM had recently stated that different federal departments should reach out to the public via ‘Khuli Kutcheris’.
