Islamabad: The Ministry of Communication recently announced that the National Highway Authority (NHA) had collected PKR 27 billion in revenue during the past 17 months, a news source reported. As per the publication, this figure corresponded with a 70-percent increase in overall revenue collection as compared to the numbers recorded in the past.

Earlier, the Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed had revealed that the National Highway Authority (NHA) was close to achieving its target of increasing revenue to PKR 100 billion; enabling the body to attain self-sufficiency and boosting their revenue by 52% in their first fiscal year. The document stated that overall NHA revenue collected under Minister Saeed’s tenure was recorded at PKR 65.8 billion.
This amount also includes the PKR 120 million the authority recovered through the accountability process. In addition to generating a record high income, the NHA also managed to save PKR 300 billion under the countrywide austerity drive.

The ongoing reforms in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have also started to yield positive results; with the airline recording a sharp rise in revenue, which now stands at PKR 144 billion — with their revenue collected last year recorded at PKR 99 billion.
