Islamabad: National Highway Authority (NHA) Chairman Muhammad Khurram Agha shared the progress of the Chaman-Karachi Highway (N-25) project during a meeting, according to news published on June 29.

A parliamentary panel met with Senator Prince Omar Ahmadzai to review the progress of the Chaman-Karachi highway project. The Senate Standing Committee on Communications shared concerns about the possibility of surpassing the estimated cost of PKR 222 billion due to an increase in the prices of construction materials. The chairman committee disclosed that PKR 6 billion have been released for the project so far.
During the meeting, the NHA officials briefed the attendees about the highway project. It was revealed that the 790-kilometre-long road project has five packages and will be completed in phases. The details of the phases are as follows:
- 330-kilometre long Khuzdar-Kuchlak
- 273-kilometre long Karachi-Uthal-Kararo and Wadh-Khuzdar
- 187-kilometre Kararo-Wadh and Kuchlak-Chaman

Moreover, the officials informed that the PC-1 cost for the Karachi-Uthal-Kararo section is PKR 73.029 billion while the PC-1 cost for the Khuzdar-Kuchlak section is PKR 81.582 billion and the cost of the third section is PKR 67.671 billion. The PC-1 costs have been referred to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for approval.
