Islamabad: The Federal Government has decided to allocate PKR 6.88 billion for 10 new road and infrastructure projects in the upcoming Fiscal year 2021-22 budget, according to media reports. There would also be a supplementary allocation of PKR 5 billion for three packages.

As far as the new schemes are concerned, it includes rehabilitation of infrastructure and construction of new roads details of which are as follows;
- A Bridge over River Indus at Ghazi Ghat on N-70
- Malakand Tunnel (Phase-I)
- Sui-Kashmore Dual Carriageway that will connect the Sukkur-Multan Motorway.
Improvement projects details are as follows:
- Chitral-Booni-Mashtuj-Shandur corridor expansion and up-gradation (CPEC)
- Dualization and upgrade of the current N-50 from Yarik to Sagu-Zhob, including a 210-kilometre Zhob Bypass.
- Improvement and widening of N-45 (130.22 km)
- Upgradation and widening of Quetta-Dhadhar Section of N-65 (118.322 km)
- Swabi interchange Ring Road widening
PKR 5 billion packages will include construction of:
- Jhal Jhao-Awaran Road
- Gilgit-Shandur Road
- Hoshab-Awaran-Khuzdar section of M-8 section, Awaran-Naal (168 km)
As far as the ongoing projects are concerned, the PKR 107.08 billion are set aside to be spent on 25 projects during the fiscal year 2021-22.

According to a senior executive of the National Highway Authority (NHA), the body has asked PKR 200 billion for current and future projects. However, the government has only allocated a PKR 119 billion budget.
