Islamabad: The National Highways Authority (NHA) Executive Board on Saturday (December 04) sent the Project Concept-1 (PC-1) of the 163-kilometre-long Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road (N-15) to authorities for final clearance, news sources reported.

The PKR 5.57 billion project was sent to the National Economic Council’s Central Development Working Party (CDWP)/Executive Committee (Ecnec). As per the report, the project cost has increased by 45.8% under the amended PC-1 to PKR 5.57 billion from the previously proposed value of PKR 3.820 billion. In addition, the board authorised a revised PC-1 for the dualisation and improvement of the 80-kilometre-long Pindigheb-Kohat Road (N-80) for PKR 21.52 billion. The board also approved the amended PC-1 for the 128-kilometre-long dualisation and upgradation of the Indus Highway (N-55) from Sarai Gambila-Kohat with a budget of PKR 33.774 billion.

In another development, the NHA has decided to build an underpass near Golra Mor on Grand Trunk (GT) Road to facilitate access for vehicles arriving from sectors I-14, I-15, and I-16. The authority will spend PKR 717 million for the project, with the project contract already awarded to a private firm. The proposed project will be completed in 12 months and would accommodate 125,000 vehicles per day.
