Islamabad: The National Highway Authority (NHA) Executive Board has given its approval for issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for laying Optical Fiber Cables (OFC) in Right of Way (RoW), as reported by a source on November 1.

As per the details, under the guidance of the cabinet secretary-led committee, appointed by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SFIC) Executive Committee, the NHA has established rates for the installation of optical fiber and related digital infrastructure along the RoW. The approved rate for laying OFC is set at PKR 30 per meter, which mirrors the charges levied by the NHA, contrary to the proposed PKR 240 per meter by Pakistan Railways.

Official documents have outlined the criteria for granting gratis NOCs to non-profit/charitable organizations, such as trusts, foundations, masajids/madaris, etc. These organizations are required to provide relevant documents substantiating their status as non-profit/charitable entities. The Board has mandated completion of all technical requirements before the issuance of gratis NOC.
