Islamabad: Minister for Communications Maulana Asad Mahmood has announced a decision to launch a housing scheme for National Highway Authority (NHA)’s employees, according to news published on January 10.

During a media briefing held in Islamabad, the minister said that housing units will be offered to NHA’s employees who are working in the headquarters located in the capital city. He revealed that the ownership rights to these houses will remain with the authority. Minister Mehmood was of the view that this development will save the authority large sums spent on the provision of hiring facilities for employees. He called for this initiative to be replicated at provincial headquarters as well.

In a previous development, the minister also approved the construction of apartments on 121 kanals of NHA-owned land near the M-1 and M-2 motorways for the authority’s employees that will be available on easy instalment plans.
