Chitral: The Ministry of Communications has issued a notification declaring the federalisation of two main roads of Chitral – with the provincial government granting 100% mutation of right of way (RoW) for both routes to the National Highway Authority (NHA), according to news sources.

The 363-kilometre Shandur-Gilgit Road and the 82.5-kilometre Garam Chashma-Dorah Pass Road, having become part of the NHA system, have been designated N-140 and N-145, respectively.
Special Assistant to KP Chief Minister Wazir Zada said that the Garam Chashma-Dorah Pass Road will prove to be a game-changer in the area; being linked with the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor route on one side and connecting Pakistan with Tajikistan, through the Dorah Pass, on the other.

He opined that after the completion of the road projects, Chitral would become an ‘economic and trade hub’ in the province; resulting in the generation of further employment opportunities for the locals.
