Islamabad: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has completed 35 road projects spanning 2,813 kilometres at a cost of PKR 498 billion in the last five years, reported a news source. The authority is currently working on 25 projects covering over 1,460 kilometres, out of which 21 are in the planning stages.
The completed highways included the following in Balochistan; Kalat-Quetta-Chaman Road, Gwadar-Turbat-Hoshab Road, Hoshab-Panjgor-Nag Basima Road, Khuzdar-Shahdadkot Road, and Kolhapur Bypass.
Under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the NHA completed the Khunjerab-Raikot section of Karakoram Highway, Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway M-9, Khanewal-Multan Motorway, Faisalabad-Gojra Motorway, Gojra-Toba Tek Singh Motorway and Multan-Shujabad Motorway.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Burhan Shah Maqsood Interchange section of Hazara Motorway and Lowari Tunnel. Other notable projects include Lyari Expressway and Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway.
Work on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway is also underway at a fast pace.
