Islamabad: The National Highway Authority (NHA) collected more than PKR 25 billion in terms of toll tax during 2017-18, reported a news source. The authority’s revenue collected via toll tax has increased by PKR 9 billion in the last five years.
At the moment, the NHA operates 119 toll plazas on national highways, motorways, strategic roads, and bridges, and the amount collected is spent on maintenance and repair of the respective roads. According to sources, the NHA collected PKR 16 billion in 2012-2013 which gradually increased to PKR 25 billion in 2017-18.
