Mansehra: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has been directed to clear snow from the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road before Eid-ul-Fitr to facilitate tourists, according to news published on March 2.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Sardar Shahjehan Yousuf mentioned that the federal government wants to revive tourism in the Kaghan Valley and the said Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road should be cleared of landslides and snow. The premier’s aide disclosed that the said road links KP to Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and has been blocked to traffic since November due to heavy snowfall, which is yet to be cleared.

The SAPM stated that NHA has given the deadline of April to clear the road. However, the prime minister wants the authority to open the road a month; ahead of its schedule. It was also mentioned that the premier has directed the NHA to speed up the process of re-carpeting of Karakoram Highway, from Qalanderabad (Abbottabad) to Shinkari (Mansehra).
