Islamabad: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has initiated the process of handing over the metro bus project – from Peshawar Mor to Islamabad International Airport (IIA) – to the Capital Development Authority (CDA), according to a news report published on March 9.

According to the details revealed, the highway authority has already handed over five metro stations to the CDA. Additionally, a portion of the metro track from Peshawar Mor to the railway bridge has been handed over. In the second phase, NHA will hand over the remaining two stations and the main platform.

It was also revealed the prior to operating the bus services, CDA will install ticketing and information technology system at the bus stations. Last year, the civic agency also obtained approval for PC-1 worth PKR 1.9 billion for procurement of 30 buses and establishment of a ticketing, command and control system. The authority officials have revealed that these buses will be procured once the government releases funds.
The officials also hinted at a stop-gap arrangement with Islamabad Rawalpindi Metro Bus Service ‘to ply a few buses on the route until the CDA procures the buses’.
